Bellus Academy (Formerly the Poway Academy) About your college: Bellus Academy received the 2008 “School of the Year Award” by national cosmetology publisher, MODERN SALON Media for pioneering five-star standards in beauty education.  The academy recently completed a $2.5 million dollar renovation, which transformed the school into a lavish, state-of-the-art training facility complete with the finest student spa and salon equipment and instructional tools. The school also is the FIRST in the nation to introduce numerous advanced courses to the curriculum such as the industry’ s first Master Esthetics and Spa Nail programs, advanced Cosmetology and Make-up Artistry that prepare graduates for the elevated expectations of premier beauty and medical spa establishments across the US.  The academy employs the finest educators and is the only school to boast an international artistic director and spa director.  Over the past 30 years Je Boutique, Bay Vista and Poway Academies have successfully graduated over 11,500 students into the dynamic spa and beauty industries. “First Class” Business Training Unparalleled Job Placement Curriculum: We offer the most comprehensive professional training in all aspects of the spa and beauty industries including hair design, massage, esthetics and spa manicuring.  In addition to the basic courses that traditional Beauty schools offer we have combined courses and advanced courses preparing our graduates for the BEST jobs.  Advanced training is offered in Make-Up Artistry, Advanced Hair Design, Cut and Color, Massage (HHP) and Medical Esthetics. Our Academies are the only schools outside of New York and Los Angeles to offer a professional make-up course at this level and the only school in California offering a Master Esthetics and Spa Nail Technician course. In addition you can become Internationally certified through the west coast exclusive ITEC certification course that the Academies offer!  Work internationally in 33 countries! Career Services: Our Career Services Department is dedicated to providing job search information and assistance to equip the graduate with the tools necessary to seek out the right salon to begin his/her career.  The department takes an active role throughout the students training to develop a professional relationship and provide employment referrals during their training program if needed. The department develops and maintains job placement guidance and assistance through a structured, detailed program encompassing job development skills such as interviewing, and salon/spa selection. The department also focuses on resume assistance, and career-oriented classes that foster and encourage professional relationships with the salon industry through our Advisory Committees.  Based on the professional relationship with the industry, the Academies have established a referral process which ultimately results in an extensive lead/referral base for students to access when they are eligible for employment. Career Services offers lifetime placement assistance to its graduates. Our intent is to maintain a close relationship through our Alumni Association with our graduates and remind them that the department is always ready to assist them with any employment questions or referrals.  Although the school works closely with its graduates, no school can absolutely guarantee employment.  The most successful professionals, aside from possessing sound artistic skill development and business building skills learned at the Academies, embrace a customer-first attitude as they successfully build their careers.
